Our Mission
Our mission is to glorify God by Reaching and Teaching and Unleashing people for Christ.
Our Vision
Capital Bible Church’s purpose is to be a light in a dark world, to be salt in a tasteless world, to be a harbor for all who are lost and weary, to build and cultivate relationships, to be a place that fosters spiritual growth in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, and to care for people and see them as God sees them.
What We Believe
1. We believe the Bible is the written revelation of God, and the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments were given by the plenary, verbal inspiration of the Holy Spirit; infallibly true; inerrant in the original languages; and constitutes the only infallible rule of faith and practice (II Tim. 3:16; II Peter 1:20,21; Matt. 5:18; Isa. 30:8).
2. We believe in the one true God eternally subsisting in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, each the same in essence and equal in power and glory though executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption (Deut. 6:4; I Tim. 2:5; Gen. 1:26; Isa. 6:8; Matt. 28:19; I Peter 1:2).
3. We believe that man was created by the direct act of God, with no process of evolution. He was created in the image of God but willfully sinned and fell from his original position to a state of sinfulness. Through Adam, the first man, the whole human race was and is corrupt and in need of salvation through Jesus Christ (Gen. 1:27; Rom. 5:12,15-19; John 3:3-5; Eph. 2:1-3).
4. We believe in the Deity and pre-existence of our Lord Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son, our sole mediator. We further believe in His incarnation; His virgin birth; His sinless life; His substitutionary unlimited atonement; His bodily resurrection from the grave; His ascension; His present intercessory work before the throne of the Father; His personal, visible, imminent return to receive the Church unto Himself at the Rapture; and His return with His Church to establish His millennial kingdom (Jn. 1:1-3; Heb. 1:8; Micah 5:2; Isa. 7:14; Luke 1:27; II Cor. 5:21; Acts 1:9,10; I Thess. 4:13-18; Rev. 20).
5. We believe that the Holy Spirit is a Person equal to the Father and the Son. His ministry includes that of convicting, regenerating, baptizing, sealing, indwelling, teaching, and controlling (Acts 5:3,4; Jn. 16:7-11; Jn. 14:26; I Cor. 2:11, 3:16, 6:19, 12:12,13; Eph. 4:30).
We believe that the Holy Spirit baptizes all believers into the Body of Christ (I Cor. 12:13), that every believer possesses the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit from salvation on, and it is the duty of all those born of the Spirit to be filled with the Spirit (Jn. 16:13; Rom. 8:9; Eph. 5:18; I John 2:20-27).
We believe that the Holy Spirit alone administers spiritual gifts to the Church, not to glorify Himself or the gifts by ostentatious displays, but to glorify Christ and implement His work of redeeming the lost and building up believers in the most holy faith (Jn. 16:13,14; Acts 1:8; I Cor. 12:4-11; II Cor. 3:18).
We believe, in this respect, that God the Holy Spirit is sovereign in the bestowing of all His gifts for the perfecting of the saints today; and that speaking tongues (unlearned languages) and the working of sign miracles gradually ceased being normative (normal) as the New Testament Scriptures were completed and their authority became established (I Cor. 12:4-11; II Cor. 12:12; Eph. 4:7-12; Heb. 2:1-4; I Thess. 5:11). However, we believe God can heal and do miracles whenever He chooses.
6. We believe the only salvation for man is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, apart from human merit, works, or ceremonies. Jesus Christ purchased this salvation with His own precious blood on the cross, and it is eternal for all who receive it, not being dependent upon human faithfulness or a religious system for its completion (Eph. 2:8,9; Titus 3:5-7; I Pet. 1:18,19; I Jn. 5:10-13; Heb. 10:10-12).
7. We believe in the bodily resurrection of all believers unto eternal life with Jesus Christ and of all unbelievers unto eternal damnation in hell fire (Jn. 5:28, 29; I Cor. 15:52; I Thess. 4:16; Rev. 20:11-15; Matt. 10:28, 25:46).
8. We believe that all who place their faith in Jesus Christ are baptized by the Holy Spirit into one spiritual Body - the Church, of which Christ is the Head. The Church is a unique spiritual organism made up of all born again believers in this present age (I Cor. 12:12,13; Eph. 1:22; Matt. 16:18; Eph. 2:11-22).
9. We believe the establishment and continuity of local churches is clearly taught and defined in the Scriptures (Acts 14:23,27, 20:17, 28; Gal. 1:2; Phil. 1:1; I Thess. 1:1), that the members of this one spiritual Body are directed to associate themselves together in local assemblies (I Cor. 11:18-20; Heb. 10:25).
10. We believe that the one supreme authority for the Church is Christ and that the order, discipline, and worship are appointed through His sovereignty. The biblically designated officers serving under Christ and over the assembly are elders (also called bishops, pastors and pastor-teachers, and deacons) who must fit biblical qualifications (Acts 20:28; Eph. 4:11; I Tim. 3:1-13; Titus 1:5-9; I Pet. 5:1-5). We believe that these leaders lead or rule in the place of Christ and have His authority in directing the Church (I Tim. 5:17-22); the congregation is to peaceably follow their leadership (Heb. 13:7, 17; I Thess. 5:12,13).
11. We believe in the disciplining of sinning members of the congregation in accord with the standard of Scripture (Matt. 18:15-22; I Cor. 5:1-13; II Thess. 3:6-15; I Tim. 1:19, 20; Titus 1:10-16).
12. We believe in the calling of all saints to the work of the ministry (I Cor. 15:58; Eph. 4:12; Rev. 22:12). To this end, God gives gifted men for the purpose of equipping the saints for the work of the ministry (Eph. 4:7-12), and He also gives each believer a spiritual gift or gifts at the moment of spiritual birth. These gifts are sovereignly bestowed, cannot be sought, and should be discovered, developed and employed for the edification of the Body and the accomplishment of the work of Christ in the world (Rom. 12:5-8; I Cor. 12:4-13; I Pet. 4:10, 11).
13. We believe that two ordinances have been committed to the local church: Baptism and the Lord's Supper (Acts 2:38-42). Christian baptism (by immersion) is the testimony of a believer, showing forth in solemn and beautiful emblem our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior, and our union with Him in death to sin, and resurrection to a new life (Rom. 6:1-11; Acts 2:41, 42; Matt. 28:19, 20).
14. We believe that the Lord's Supper is the commemoration and proclamation of His death until He comes. It is in no sense a sacrifice, but is a communion with the risen Christ who desires fellowship with His people (I Cor. 11:23-34; I Cor. 10:16).
15. We believe that separation is taught throughout the Old and New Testaments and that all the saved should live in such a way as not to bring reproach upon their Savior. We believe in the necessity of personal separation from worldly and sinful practices; and ecclesiastical separation from modernism and religious apostasy is commanded of God (Rom. 12:1, 2; II Cor. 6:14-17; II Tim. 3:1-5; I Jn. 2:15-17; II Jn. 9-11; I Cor. 5:9-13).
